Moissanite vs Diamond: Honest Numbers in 2026

Published December 31, 1969 · Written by the Holycome atelier team, Wuzhou China

Moissanite is nearly as hard as diamond (9.25 vs 10 on the Mohs scale) and refracts more light, which is why it looks more "fiery" than a diamond under indoor light. The honest trade-off: it does not have the resale market of diamond, and it has a faint double-reflection up close under a jeweler's loupe.

For an engagement ring that will be worn daily and admired up close, most customers in 2026 choose moissanite.
